H i s t o r y:
Alpha Pi Sigma was founded on March 10, 1990 at San Diego State University. Latina women from a variety of backgrounds came together to form an organization that would unite and support Latina women on campus. The Ladies of Alpha Pi Sigma pride themselves in holding their education in highest regard. They believe that campus involvement, academics, leadership, and community service are methods to achieve success at the University level. Other objectives of the Sorority include promoting members academically, personally, and professionally. Although Alpha Pi Sigma identifies itself as a Latina based sorority, it does not discriminate against any ethnic group and welcomes all women that are interested in the Alpha Pi Sigma experience.

The Beta chapter of Alpha Pi Sigma at Cal Poly Pomona was established on March 1, 1996 by Marcella C. Arias, Renee A. Mendoza, and Obdulia Viramontes. Sisters of the beta chapter have shown great interest in being involved in the Latino community by hosting the annual Adelitas Conference and Xicano Latino Youth Leadership Conference (XLYLC) to promote higher education, cultural pride, and self-worth amongst our youth. The Beta Chapter has undoubtedly demonstrated their commitment and sincerity to succeeding . We are very proud of our goals and accomplishments thus far, and look forward to fulfilling our responsibilities and visions for the future. We are distinguished leaders who withhold a reputation of honor, dedication, and respect for our education, culture, and families.
